Even today, the ruins of this most ancient city can still be found to the northwest of the city. It's most treasured finds can be seen in the city's two main museums. Larnaca is itself an important tourist resort, even though many tourists move on from here to the resorts of Paphos, Agia Napa and Protaras. Famous for its picturesque palm tree lined seafront this area is a popular city promenade during the festivals. The most important of these festivals is Kataklysmos, better known as the Festival of the Flood.
